| Donation Info A donation is not mandatory to register, but an equally important way to help in our fight for life. Whatever your situation, you have a chance to save the world, one life at a time. "Typing a donor's blood costs $65.00/each and maintaining the DKMS database is expensive," says Katharina Harf, President DKMS Americas. Some donors can pay for their own typing, but others can't," says Katharina. "That's why a donation made with your checkbook could help save a life, too. We ask those excluded for health reasons, anyone 55 or older, as well as bone marrow donors themselves, to help us cover the cost to type a donor's blood." If you cannot donate yourself, won't you consider covering the cost of someone you know as a gift? For example, a father may pay for his son to register with DKMS.
